Ice Storm Recovery Update - April 4, 2025

We know a number of residents are still without power, and we appreciate the stress this causes households.
  • ️Hydro One currently has 3,800 team members, contractors and other resources currently supporting their restoration efforts.
  • Crews are working long hours trying to restore power to all homes as quickly and safely as possible. Visit the outage map for Hydro One updates: https://bit.ly/3VKjigd
  • If you spot a fallen line, keep at least 10m back, even if it does not appear to be live. Report it to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235, or text 92887 (WATTS).
  • Hydro One customers that have damage to their home’s electrical equipment (ex. stack/pipe where the powerline from the road connects to their home), need to have a licensed electrician make the necessary repairs.   • OSM Residents have access to dispose of brush for FREE at:
  • OSM Waste Transfer Station, 1594 Drummond Line. For hours of operation visit: https://www.osmtownship.ca/wastetransferstation
  • Weekend normal hours: Saturday, April 5 – 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • ADDITIONAL HOURS – to accept Brush/Tree debris only - Sunday, April 6 – 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Peterborough County City Waste Management Facility,1260 Bensfort Road, is also accepting spoiled food waste for FREE from County and City residents until April 14th. They ask that you please ensure the removal of packaging from food to ensure proper composting.

OSM Fire Station #1 Training Room at 21 Third Street, Keene, is still open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to warm up, charge devices, and use free Wi-Fi.

Warming centres are still set up in the City of Peterborough at:

  • Miskin Law Community Complex, 271 Lansdowne St. W
  • Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, 775 Brealey Dr.
  • Healthy Planet Arena, 911 Monaghan Rd (open overnight)

SCAM ALERT

OSM Fire Department and OSM Food Cupboard have been made aware of people calling seeking donations/fundraising for their organizations.

Please be advised that the OSM Fire Department does not seek donations/fundraise and

the OSM Food Cupboard does NOT solicit donations or fundraise over the phone.

Do not provide any personal information or financial information to callers requesting these donations.

 

Half Load Restrictions

Half load restrictions will be in effect from
midnight on March 1, 2025 - April 30, 2025
on all OSM Township roads.

Persons contravening this regulation will be prosecuted under Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act.

On the second Thursday of every month between 12-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m., the Otonabee-South Monaghan Food Cupboard is open. The OSM Food cupboard serves residents of OSM Township and Hiawatha First Nation.
